Portraits, portraits portraits 2013 is off to a great start! Highlights of the first quarter include presenting “It’s Elementary: Art and Design,” a look at the elements of design as they relate to landscapes and portraits, to undergraduate interior design students at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Meredith’s design program is very strong both with excellent leadership and talented and motivated students. It was a pleasure to be on campus!
Next up was DESIGN IN UNITY in High Point, NC, the annual winter event for interior designers. We had great programs and highlights were showroom visits to French Heritage, Baker, Feizy and the new Calvin Klein space. I saw many designers who are old friends and whose practices are robust and made new acquaintances of designers who also have seasoned businesses and some who are new to the industry. Several designers have children’s and executive oil portrait commissions for clients in the offing. Thank you! Also, a request was made for some updated information about commissioning oil portraits that could be shared with clients. I have written a piece and if anyone else has an interest for a newsletter or blog, please let me know.
